This 40 hour course of instruction introduces the student to the use of video equipment for investigative and covert surveillance purposes. Students will learn the basic principles of video, various uses for investigative video systems, and equipment needed to implement both fixed and mobile covert video surveillance operations. Topics to be discussed are:
 
  • Principles of Video
  • Cameras (Fixed and portable)
  • Lenses (Pinhole, Auto Iris, etc.)
  • VCR's & VTR's (R-R, VHS, BETA, 3/4, etc.)
  • Time-Lapse Recording Systems
  • R-F Video Transmission
  • Telephone & Microwave Video Transmission
  • Video Alarm systems
  • Video Switchers
  • Video Concealment Techniques
  • Use of Video with Night Vision

Students will participate in demonstrations of various types of surveillance systems and become familiar with the set up and wiring requirements of specific types of equipment.

Upon completion the student will have the knowledge and skills needed to plan and set up a video surveillance investigations. In addition, each student will be able to select appropriate video equipment and accessories for various types of operations.
